Have you still got the information about the Robertsons before William in Scotland?

  3. Hi Lyn & Alan I really appreciate what you are both doing to record the history of William Robertson for descendants such as myself. The re-freshened website looks great. I particularly welcomed the larger text, liked the addition of colour and welcomed the opportunity to be able to easily make a comment. Please keep up the good work.

    Regards to you both JT

  5. Dear Lyn and Alan
Thank you for your e-mail which made me have another look at the Robertson website which I had not visited for quite some time. The work that you have both done on behalf of us Robertsons is commendable to say the least. I particularly liked the Culloden - Bonnie Prince Charlie/Flora McDonald story which you have covered so well. I remember learning about Bonnie Prince Charlie when I was in primary school MANY years ago.

    Kind regards KF

  8. Hi Lyn & Alan Your recent update encouraged me to get out my Robertson DVD which I enjoyed when I first played it and really enjoyed replaying again. I also appreciate your commitment to the Robertson website which very much compliments the DVD. Six years since we met on Robertson Descendants Day - are you contemplating another? MT Victoria

    1. Glad that you enjoyed replaying the DVD and appreciate your comments re the website which remains a labour of love. As for another Robertson Descendants Day - We would need to know that such an occasion would be well supported before deciding on that. Best regards Lyn & Alan

  9. So nice to get your update Alan. You have a wonderful family indeed.

I also have been very busy moving from California to Ohio four years ago and doing a full remodel on the family home.

Hopefully one day we shall meet. I hope to create more You Tube clips, but with my busy life -
maybe later this year or for sure in 2019.

Your blog is very good and I hope to one day do the same. Let’s keep in touch Laddie.

  12. I see from the Robertson website that you are offering a copy of the family tree for descendants. I am a great great grandson of Lillias Robertson (1826-1913) who married William Bertram. I have a poor (hand written) Bertram family tree from 30 years ago and would love to see a full family tree of her descendants. I also have some wedding photos of my grandparents in 1907 which include all
the siblings, and would be of interest to their descendants if I could find them.

    1. Hi RS

      1. Happy to prepare/forward a personal Descendants chart for you relative to Lillias Robertson.

      2. As we are in the process of adding an additional link to the Robertson website (one for each of William Robertson’s six children) to which we will be adding information/photos etc relative to each child and their descendants, we would welcome receiving;
      (a) A scanned (highest definition) copy of your Bertram Family tree
      (b) A scanned (highest definition) copy of your grandparents 1907 wedding photos and any other photos that you may be able to provide.

      3. The Robertson Family tree is short of some details which hopefully you will be able to provide for their inclusion. We have advised of the missing information in a seperate e-mail and look forward to hearing from you in regard to this and the above matters.

      Regards Lyn & Alan Maher

    1. Four pages relative to William Robertson/Marion (McGilchrist) Robertson are currently in construction mode as are seven pages relative to their children. When completed they will collectively contain hundreds of photographs/documentation etc sourced as well as provided to us by Robertson descendants. An e-mail will be sent to all on the Robertson mailing list as soon as this work is completed. As this is a reasonably large exercise we do not anticipate these pages will be available for viewing for around 6-8 weeks. Having said that we do believe that all who access the links when they are opened will consider the wait well and truly worthwhile. We hope that you will agree.

  14. My wife and I are quite taken by your Robertson website and visit it on regular occasions to see what has recently been published and read the comments made by others. Today was no exception as we discovered your Robertson Family Tree Branches link which was not there last time we looked at the website. Very pleased to see that our family name is recorded. We are both looking forward to seeing the other links when they become available. A fantastic site, particularly for those of us who proudly claim descent from William Robertson & Marion McGilchrist. 16. We are pleased to advise that we have completed our update of the Robertson Website including the addition of a number of additional links containing some hundreds of photos/documents and the like.

The updated site will be available for viewing in its entirety as from today Friday 13 2018.

There is a considerable amount of detail over the entire site and while we have taken care during our update, it is likely if not probable that we have made some errors.

Because of this and in the best interests of historical accuracy your feed back is important to us. In this regard we welcome your feed back to enable us to correct any factual errors and the like that you may notice.

Similarly we would be pleased to add any photos/documents/information that you may have to the website.

We hope that you enjoy viewing the refreshed website/links.

  22. I have just read the Memoirs of James McGilchrist and was taken by the hardships that he endured in his early life. One wonders how the present generation would have coped with life's difficulties that appeared to follow him most places. The Burra History was a welcome addition to his written memoirs.
